Our airway is our lifeline. If we do not have a proper airway, we do not get enough oxygen. Sleep apnea is like fighting for your life every single night. Scary right? Even scarier when you think about all the children who also have sleep apnea or sleep disordered breathing. 1/3 of children suffer from sleep disorders. Indicators are night terrors, bedwetting, sleep talking, sleep walking, waking often, and grinding their teeth. In the day children are tired, have behavior issues, ADHD, trouble concentrating, emotional, headaches, and anxiety. Adults have different signs and symptoms for sleep disorders. Some indicators are snoring, grinding, choking/gasping for air, morning headaches, insomnia, diabetes, GERD/acid reflux, high blood pressure, depression/anxiety, not having dreams, frequent bathroom visits at night, accidents, accelerated aging, Alzheimer's, and chronic pain .
The good news is myofunctional therapy can help you and your child! By releasing a tongue-tie and strengthening the muscles, I can help you train the tongue to stay on the roof of the mouth where it belongs. We need to breathe through the nose so that the body makes Nitric Oxide. Nitric Oxide is created in the sinus and relaxes the blood vessels, it is bactericidal and viricidal, it also increases oxygen to the lungs! Correct breathing is nasal breathing and it will change the way you look and feel!
